The European Forum of the Legal Professions (EUFLP) is a unique platform that brings together the principal European-level organisations representing the judiciary and legal professions. It was initiated by the Academy of European Law (ERA) with the goal of fostering greater cooperation, coordination, and dialogue between the legal professions at the European level.
At a time when legal professionals across Europe face rapidly evolving challenges – from the digitalisation of justice to shifting societal expectations – the Forum provides an essential space for reflection, mutual support, and collective action. It aims to promote the shared values of the professions: independence, impartiality, high professional standards, and service to the public.
The EUFLP is composed of the following founding and participating organisations:
- Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE)
- European Network of Councils for the Judiciary (ENCJ)
- European Association of Judges (EAJ)
- Association of European Administrative Judges (AEAJ)
- Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union
- ACA-Europe (Association of Councils of State and Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions of the EU)
- Union Européenne des Huissiers de Justice (UEHJ)
- E.U.R. (Association of Registrars of European Union Jurisdictions)
Each year, the Forum holds a high-level conference in Brussels, offering a space for reflection on the role of the legal professions in addressing shared European concerns. These conferences are designed not only to promote institutional cooperation but also to reaffirm the vital contribution of the legal professions to the democratic and legal architecture of Europe.
The 4th Annual Conference – 14 November 2025, Brussels
The next annual conference of the EUFLP will be held on Friday, 14 November 2025, at the Council of State of Belgium, Rue d’Arlon 92, Brussels on a hybrid mode.
This year’s theme, selected unanimously by the Forum members during their meeting on 31st of Marc at the UEHJ headquarters in Brussels, is:
“The Need for Constant Vigilance: The Role of the Legal Professions in Maintaining Democratic Values”
The title reflects the ongoing commitment of legal professionals to remain alert, engaged, and united in the face of new and recurring threats to democratic institutions and justice systems in Europe. The 2025 conference will explore how various branches of the legal professions – judges, prosecutors, lawyers, enforcement agents, and court officials – can work together to preserve essential guarantees for citizens and strengthen professional ethics, independence, and service quality.
